At 10:18 AM on October 18, Changhong International ignited the construction of an 115,000-ton product oil and crude oil tanker for the shipowner Pro Tanker Investment Co., Ltd. at the processing workshop of Changhong International Jiangnan Mountain Factory. Mr. Wei Peng, the technical manager of Pro Tanker, Mr. Pang Maocan from ABS, Mr. Zhong Qiaogang, Mr. Zhang Xuxin, the general manager of the Shanghai branch of China Merchants Bank, and leaders from Changhong International, including Mr. Dai Jiming, Mr. Wang Jiazhen, Mr. Lin Feng, and representatives from relevant departments attended the ceremony to witness the ship's commencement of construction.

Mr. Wei Peng, the technical manager of Pro Tanker, Mr. Pang Maocan from ABS, and Mr. Wang Jiazhen, the deputy general manager and chief engineer of shipbuilding at Changhong International, signed the commencement certificate on behalf of the three parties.

The ship type being constructed is a new generation LR2/Aframax oil tanker developed by Changhong International in collaboration with CIMC Shanghai Institute (CIMC ORIC) based on the latest specifications and rules, with a total length of 249.9 meters, a length between perpendiculars of 245.5 meters, a width of 44 meters, a depth of 21.5 meters, a structural draft of 15.2 meters, and a maximum deadweight tonnage of 115,000 tons.

The 115,000-ton oil tanker is the latest generation product of this type on the market, featuring significant energy-saving and environmental protection characteristics. It adopts a vertical bow design, which balances the design draft and structural draft for improved performance, reducing overall fuel consumption and carbon emissions, achieving excellent carbon emission ratings. This ship uses the latest generation 6G60ME main engine, equipped with larger diameter propellers compared to similar ship types, as well as energy-saving devices such as vortex suppression fins and energy-saving ducts, significantly improving propulsion efficiency. At the same design speed, the continuous power (NCR) of the ship's main engine is reduced by 10% compared to similar ships, achieving the highest energy efficiency index requirements in three stages. The project has undergone multiple rounds of optimization in the ship's compartmentalization, total longitudinal bending moment, and center of buoyancy position, enhancing buoyancy and stability. It ensures the ship has maximized cargo hold volume and optimizes the total longitudinal bending moment, achieving excellent lightweight indicators. After loading, the cargo hold volume can reach approximately 132,000 cubic meters, capable of carrying about 830,000 barrels of product oil or crude oil.
