At 8:58 AM on August 15, with the shipowner's representative pressing the cutting machine button, amidst the festive sounds of firecrackers and fireworks, the 7th and 8th 11,500 TEU LNG dual-fuel container ships built by Changhong International for the world-renowned shipping company Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) were officially launched in the A5 cutting workshop. This marks another significant milestone for the project following the completion of the keel laying for the 3rd and 4th ships on August 8, indicating the project's continued efficient progress.

The ceremony was attended by representatives from MSC, LR Classification Society, BV Classification Society, Xie Jinhai, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the Bank of Communications Wuxi Branch, as well as Changhong International Chairman Li Hongwei, Executive Vice President Dai Yayun, General Manager of Shipbuilding Shen Zhihua, and other leaders and employees.

This series of container ships is a new generation of 10,000 TEU dual-fuel container ships independently designed and developed by the CIMC Design Institute ORIC, with complete intellectual property rights. It features a dual-island layout and is equipped with the largest C-type LNG fuel tank in its class. The range in both LNG and fuel oil modes can meet the round-trip requirements of classic China-Europe or China-US routes, ensuring flexibility in the shipowner's operational plans. This type of ship is characterized by cleanliness, environmental protection, and low carbon emissions, saving about 5% more fuel compared to existing similar ships. The Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) is approximately 40% lower than the stringent third-phase emission baseline set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). The design has excellent technological foresight, employing both LNG and traditional fuel dual-power propulsion, as well as the industry's most advanced ammonia fuel 'ready' design.

The total length of the ship is 335 meters, with a beam of 45.6 meters and a depth of 25 meters, designed for a speed of 20 knots. The two ships launched this time are classified by LR Classification Society and BV Classification Society.

Changhong International currently holds 32 container ships for Mediterranean Shipping Company. The 11,500 TEU container ship series is the largest container ship under construction in Zhejiang, while the newly contracted 12 ships of 19,000 TEU represent the largest container ship order in Zhejiang at present.
