On the evening of March 19, Changhong International signed an order for 2 units of 115,000-ton LR2 tankers with the Greek company NAVIOS, bringing the total number of this project to 6 units.

Ms. Angeliki Frangou, Chairman and CEO of NAVIOS, Mr. Shunji Sasada, President of NAVIOS, Mr. Li Hongwei, Chairman of Changhong International, Mr. Dai Jiming, President of Changhong International, and other leaders and guests attended and witnessed the signing ceremony of the project.

The signing of these 2 LR2 tankers marks another collaboration between Changhong International and NAVIOS following the signing of 10 units of 5,300 TEU container ships in 2021 and 4 units of 115,000-ton tankers in 2023, demonstrating the increasingly close cooperation between the two parties. Currently, Changhong International holds orders for 10 units of 5,300 TEU container ships and 6 units of 115,000-ton LR2 tankers from NAVIOS. The first batch of 5,300 TEU container ships has been delivered successively, and the quality of shipbuilding has been praised by shipowners and highly recognized by the industry.

At the welcome dinner, Mr. Li Hongwei, Chairman of Changhong International, delivered a welcome speech, stating that NAVIOS, as one of Changhong's core customers, ranks at the leading level in the industry in terms of asset scale and product quality. In the 10 units of 5,300 TEU project, Changhong International benchmarked against world-class standards, investing significant time and effort to achieve a gratifying situation of win-win development for both parties, creating valuable experience and wealth for undertaking the LR2 tanker project. Mr. Li hopes that in the new project, the Changhong shipbuilding team can also adhere to the spirit of 'lean shipbuilding, customer first, quality first, safety first', forging ahead to create a new business card for Changhong shipbuilding with excellent results.

In her subsequent speech, Ms. Angeliki Frangou highly affirmed the shipbuilding quality of Changhong International and expressed sincere gratitude to Changhong International, ADK supervision, DNV classification society, and other parties for their efforts in the new ship. She hopes to continue to cherish the cooperative relationship with Changhong International, the shipbuilding party, and to fully commit to fulfilling all goals and commitments.

The addition of the 2 LR2 tanker orders will continue to support Changhong International's leading position in the construction of medium and large oil tankers in domestic shipyards, further consolidating Changhong's product competitiveness in the oil tanker market.

This ship type is a new generation LR2/Aframax tanker developed by Changhong International in collaboration with CIMC Shanghai Research Institute (CIMC ORIC) based on the latest specifications and rules. The total length of the ship is 249.9 meters, the length between perpendiculars is 245.5 meters, the width is 44 meters, the depth is 21.5 meters, the structural draft is 15.2 meters, and the maximum deadweight tonnage is 115,000 tons, classified by ABS. In addition to conventional fuel oil as fuel, the ship can also be converted to clean energy such as methanol and LNG in the future. Meanwhile, the reserved medium-voltage shore power provides favorable conditions for shipowners to connect to the medium-voltage shore power system, effectively reducing air pollution such as carbon and sulfur generated by auxiliary generators during the ship's port stay. HVSC, as the most effective environmental protection solution, is being adopted by more and more shipowners. Additionally, the ship also uses advanced single-hull single-pump hydraulic-driven deep well pumps (Framo), increasing the diversity of cargo and providing more operational value.

At 9:38 AM on March 20, Changhong International held a grand naming ceremony for the fourth 5,300 TEU container ship (CHB2024) built for the Greek NAVIOS at Changhong International's No. 1 wharf.

Guests attending the naming ceremony included Ms. Angeliki Frangou, Chairman and CEO of NAVIOS Group, her family, Mr. Shunji Sasada, President of NAVIOS Group, Mr. Eli Glickman, CEO of ZIM Shipping, Mr. David Arbel, COO of ZIM Shipping, Mr. Li Hongwei, Chairman of Changhong International, Mr. Dai Jiming, President of Changhong International, and leaders and guests from DNB Bank, ICBC Leasing, DNV Classification Society, ADK supervision company, Maibao Shipping Brokerage, and HELLAS CHART brokerage, as well as representatives from Changhong International employees.

Mr. Eli Glickman, CEO of ZIM Shipping, named the new ship CHB2024: ZIM HAWK, and Ms. Angeliki Frangou, Chairman and CEO of NAVIOS Group, cut the cable for the new ship.

The 5,300 TEU series container ship project is the first cooperation between Changhong International and NAVIOS. Since the project started, Changhong's shipbuilding team has made qualitative leaps in technical design, production planning, operational management, and frontline breakthroughs, and has delivered 3 units so far.

Mr. Dai Jiming, President of Changhong International, expressed gratitude at the ceremony to NAVIOS, ADK, DNV Classification Society, and other units for their careful guidance. He stated that the successive delivery of this project will serve as a new starting point and opportunity to further deepen cooperation with NAVIOS and all parties, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent delivery of 6 LR2 tankers.

Guests took photos with the new ship and boarded the sister ship for a visit. They wished the new ship to sail smoothly and return safely, bringing wealth and glory to the shipowners and all cooperating parties.

The 5,300 TEU container ship series consists of 10 units, with a total length of approximately 237.8 meters, a width of 38.8 meters, and a depth of 21.8 meters, classified by DNV. The design concept of the ship type overturns the traditional narrow design concept of container ships, optimizing the lines with a wide-body concept, equipped with optimized low-power main engines, low fuel consumption, and an EEDI energy consumption index that is more than 30 below the baseline index, meeting phase 3 requirements. This series is equipped with a 2.5-layer lashing bridge, capable of carrying 3,845 14-ton containers, which is 145-345 more container slots than other designs of the same type. It is equipped with 1,000 reefer container sockets, allowing simultaneous loading of 750 reefer containers, and features ultra-low sulfur oil systems, AMP, SCR, and BWMS, making it environmentally friendly and compliant with the latest specifications.

In recent years, Changhong International has focused on the market, comprehensively promoting the enhancement of medium and large container ship and tanker construction capabilities, currently ranking tenth among Chinese shipbuilding enterprises in terms of orders held. In the future, it will continue to deepen development in more fields, using high value-added ship types as a traction to gradually achieve industry chain integration and comprehensively improve shipbuilding levels.
