To enter the main engine dual-fuel retrofit market and enhance the ship repair system employees' understanding of main engine dual-fuel retrofitting, on January 9, Changhong International Ship Repair System invited Mr. Zhou Junmin, a senior surveyor from DNV with twenty main engine dual-fuel retrofit projects, and Mr. Yang Hailin, a senior welding expert, to conduct training on main engine dual-fuel retrofitting at the headquarters in Dinghai. More than 70 employees from the three bases and four workshops of Changhong Ship Repair System attended the meeting attentively.
In recent years, the operational ship repair market has seen a significant increase in repair and retrofit content aimed at environmental requirements (greenhouse gas emissions) to meet the new IMO requirements for existing operational ships and to comply with subsequent indices such as EEXI and CII. As environmental organizations impose stricter controls on ship emissions and energy efficiency requirements, along with the implementation of carbon taxes, dual-fuel power systems will be the best choice for large vessels to meet emission and energy efficiency requirements.
The two instructors provided a comprehensive and in-depth explanation of the main engine LPG dual-fuel retrofit system, its structure, equipment, main functions, and operating principles, drawing on their rich theoretical knowledge and practical experience in dual-fuel systems. They discussed the challenges and key points in the retrofit process using case studies and emphasized risk control during retrofitting. During this period, both parties also engaged in in-depth discussions on the regulatory requirements and repair processes for LPG dual-fuel power systems.
Through this training, participants gained a deeper understanding of LPG dual-fuel retrofitting, preparing them with the knowledge needed for future dual-fuel retrofit orders. Starting this year, Changhong International Ship Repair System is targeting the main engine dual-fuel retrofit market and is continuously researching innovative ship repair technologies to further expand the ship repair field and improve economic efficiency.
