The 50,000-ton MR type product oil tanker CHB5002 has started construction.

At 8:58 AM on December 5, the second 50,000-ton MR-type product oil tanker CHB5002 of Changhong International held a ignition ceremony in the section processing workshop, with the shipowner being Marshall Pro Tanker Investment Company.
Mr. Zhang Feiping, the manager of the on-site supervision team, pressed the ignition button for the CNC cutting, marking the official start of the project.
MR tankers are one of the main types of liquid cargo ships, with a broad application market prospect. The 50,000-ton series chemical tankers designed and built by Changhong International have a total length of approximately 182.95 meters, a beam of 32.2 meters, a depth of 19.10 meters, and are classified by LR. They use a stern engine type, single fixed pitch propeller diesel drive, meeting the requirements for navigation in unlimited sea areas, with a designed speed of 14.5 knots.
This ship is scheduled for delivery at the end of April 2025. Given the challenges of building tankers and the high requirements for special coatings, during the construction period, Changhong International will flexibly adjust production capacity, reasonably allocate production resources, invest high-quality technical strength, management, and construction teams into the project, and maintain close contact with the shipowner's representatives, on-site supervision team, and classification society, to achieve timely delivery of the project through collaborative efforts.
