Recently, Zhoushan Changhong International signed a large order for 10 dual-fuel liquefied natural gas container ships with a capacity of 10,300 TEU with the world-renowned shipping company Mediterranean Shipping Company. This follows the cooperation between the two parties last December when they signed for 10 dual-fuel liquefied natural gas container ships with a capacity of 11,500 TEU, fully demonstrating the trust the shipowner has in Changhong and showcasing Changhong's comprehensive strength. The batch of ships will be delivered to customers successively from the second half of 2026 to 2027.

This series of container ships is a new generation of 10,000 TEU dual-fuel container ships independently developed and designed by CIMC ORIC, with complete intellectual property rights. It is also the largest container ship that can enter the Black Sea through the Turkish Strait. This type of ship adopts a dual-island layout, with a total length of 299.95 meters, a width of 45.6 meters, a depth of 25.0 meters, a design draft of 12.5 meters, a structural draft of 17.5 meters, and a design speed of 20 knots. It is equipped with the largest C-type LNG fuel tank in its class, and the range in both LNG and fuel oil modes can meet the round-trip needs of classic Central Europe or Central America routes, ensuring the flexibility of the shipowner's operational plans. It also features clean and environmentally friendly characteristics, with a low carbon footprint, and the EEDI energy efficiency design index is about 50% lower than the International Maritime Organization (IMO) stringent third-phase emission baseline. Furthermore, the R&D team has fully considered the comprehensive performance throughout its entire lifecycle, and assessments show that under a load of 1,900 FEU ultra-high cold boxes, the CII carbon emission intensity rating can still be maintained within a healthy operational range until 2040, far ahead of similar ship types in the market.

The design of this order's ship type is optimized to match the shipowner's multi-objective operational plan, with excellent performance, featuring core technical characteristics such as fast speed and low fuel consumption. It is equipped with the latest MAN G type-EcoEGR dual-fuel main engine, high-power shaft generator, shore power system, energy-saving ducts, ballast water treatment devices, and cold box energy efficiency monitoring systems, along with a fixed fire-fighting water cannon design that meets the shipowner's special safety concept requirements. It also features a three-layer lashing bridge design, allowing for stacking up to 11 layers of standard containers above the hatch cover, with the nominal container capacity of the entire ship exceeding 10,300 TEU.

The hull structure has achieved a lightweight design, with all sections undergoing finite element calculations, normative calculations, and local structural finite element analysis to ensure the strength, stiffness, and fatigue requirements of the hull structure. At the same time, vibration and noise analyses have been conducted, analyzing key points from the design source to ensure the comfort of the ship type.

The ship type adopts a dual-fuel main engine and generator design using LNG, with a high-low pressure mixed gas supply system, meeting the cutting-edge designs for ammonia-ready and methanol-ready capabilities, enabling the ship type to achieve the zero-carbon vision of completely converting to zero-carbon fuels, highlighting the foresight of the design.

This year, Changhong International has received orders for 16+4 ships, covering LR2 product tankers and LNG dual-fuel container ships. The company currently holds orders for 48 ships, with orders scheduled until 2027.

Next, Changhong International will combine the current market conditions with its own advantages, focusing on the container ship market of around 3,000 to 12,000 TEU, prioritizing green and environmentally friendly fuel ship types such as LNG and methanol, as well as MR-type chemical ships and LR2-type tanker orders. From a long-term perspective, it will focus on the medium-sized gas ship market.
