Zhoushan Changhong International and China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation Waigaoqiao have signed a letter of intent for the cooperative construction of a 208,000-ton bulk carrier.

11Month 12In the morning, Zhoushan Changhong International Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. and China Shipbuilding Group Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. signed a cooperation agreement for the construction of two 208,000-ton bulk carriers, marking the beginning of strategic cooperation between the two parties.
General Manager Dai Jiming stated: "Changhong International is a newcomer in the shipbuilding industry, and our cooperation with Waigaoqiao should be a perfect start, allowing us to get on track 2to 3 years earlier. At the same time, both parties will also carry out close cooperation in shipbuilding technology, management, and other aspects, leveraging the brand effect and technical support of 'Waigaoqiao' to further enhance Zhoushan Changhong International's capabilities in shipbuilding. The cooperation on the 208,000-ton bulk carriers is just the beginning, and in the future, both parties will also engage in broader and deeper cooperation in fields such as marine engineering."
At the end of the seminar, both parties exchanged gifts and jointly wished for the success of this cooperation.According to the plan,2the 208,000-tonbulk carriers will start construction in July 2014 and will be delivered in September and December 2015, respectively.
It is understood that Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. was established in 1999and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the listed company under China Shipbuilding Industry Group Corporation - 'China Shipbuilding'. The company plans to cover a total area of over 5 million square meters, with an annual shipbuilding capacity of over 7 million deadweight tons. Its total shipbuilding volume and economic benefits have ranked first among domestic shipbuilding enterprises for many years, earning it the title of 'China's No. 1 Shipyard', and it ranks among the top in the global shipbuilding industry.
"This first cooperation with a private ship enterprise in Zhoushan is also 'Waigaoqiao's' trial of brand output." Huang Yongxi, assistant to the general manager of China Shipbuilding Group and chairman of Waigaoqiao, stated that this is an important measure for the transformation and development of 'Waigaoqiao', hoping that both parties can leverage their respective advantages to jointly create high-quality ships and achieve the effect of 'one plus one is greater than two'.
