On the morning of September 26, Zhoushan Changhong International completed a 3-day trial voyage for the 63,500-ton bulk carrier (CHB004) built for New Changjiang Shipping (Hong Kong) Company, docking at the company's No. 1 terminal.

The construction of the 63,500-ton bulk carrier received strong support from various departments, including the shipbuilding department and the painting department. The shipbuilding work was completed by the shipbuilding department, launched on August 19. Due to delays in the launch schedule, the department leadership decided to move the underwater work to the shipyard. After countless overtime hours, day and night, one milestone after another was achieved, measured only by time. After the main power connection, external oil injection for the main engine, and tests for the generator, incinerator, and sewage treatment device were completed, the focus was on the integrity of the painting, the tightness of the piping, the structural integrity of the outfitting, the bundling of cable laying, and the overall integrity of the area, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent mooring tests at the terminal.

On the eve of the trial voyage of the 63,500-ton bulk carrier, the ship's boiler and generator completed oil injection. At 9 PM on the 23rd, the vessel moved to a deep-water open area, and the main engine load and endurance tests began. During this period, the boiler evaporation rate, fresh water generator test, main engine fuel consumption measurement, ship noise, vibration measurement, and boiler pressure holding test all passed in one go. The main engine load and endurance tests ended at 5 AM on the 24th; the EEDI test concluded at 5 PM on the 24th; and from 5:30 AM to 9:30 AM on the 25th, an unmanned cabin test was conducted before returning. The trial personnel completed all test items in just 3 days, improving the efficiency of the trial voyage.

During this trial voyage, the shipbuilding department overcame the challenges of a short timeframe and heavy tasks, impressing the shipowner with their rich experience, calm demeanor, and cohesive team spirit. The subsequent submission of trial voyage projects also went smoothly. In the next phase, the shipbuilding department will complete the defect repairs, submit fire safety items, and submit cabin reports, working hard for a successful delivery.

It is reported that63,500ton bulk carrier is designed bySDARIwith detailed design and production design by the company's design department, the "Dolphin 64" Panamax bulk carrier, usingMAN B&W 5G60ME-C9.2main engine, compared toStype engines, thisGtype engine has a longer stroke and lower speed, which can improve propeller propulsion efficiency, beneficial for reducing fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions, as well as harmful gas emissions and pollution.
