The first two 1004 TEU container ships of Changhong International have successfully started construction.

On September 23, with sparks flying from the plasma cutter in the processing workshop, Zhoushan Changhong International successfully commenced the construction of the first two of four container ships for Jungerhans and the China International Marine Containers (Group) Co., Ltd. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Li Hongwei, Chairman of the company, Mr. Dai Jiming, President, Mr. Hemm Jörgensen, President of Jungerhans, Ms. Hu Kangan, Dean of CIMC, and Ms. Hou Juzhen, Business Director of DNV-GL Greater China, who all delivered speeches.

The ship type has a total length of 153 meters, a width of 24.5 meters, a depth of 11.8 meters, a designed draft of 7.6 meters, a structural draft of 8 meters, a deadweight tonnage of 13,250 tons, and a speed of 18 knots, classified by DNV-GL. These new ships are equipped with various advanced devices and functions, relying on new patents and innovative cargo loading systems, allowing them to quickly and safely load various unconventional-sized containers. In addition, the vessels are equipped with the latest two-stroke main engines, significantly reducing fuel consumption and lowering transportation costs. All configurations on board are optimized to serve trade between Northern Europe, Ireland, and the UK. The first ship is expected to be delivered by the end of 2017.

As the first European shipowner to officially sign a contract with Changhong International, Jungerhans Shipping Company owns and manages over 40 modern container and heavy-lift ships, enjoying a high reputation in Germany and Europe. CIMC ORIC, a subsidiary of China International Marine Containers (Group) Co., Ltd., is a research institution specializing in the research and design of ships and marine engineering equipment. Changhong International prepared for the signing of this contract for half a year. Business and technical personnel from CIMC ORIC and the shipowner visited Changhong multiple times for on-site inspections, confirming that Changhong is an excellent shipbuilding enterprise with great development potential, hoping for long-term cooperation.

In recent years, Changhong International has continuously strengthened product research and development and market expansion efforts, adhering to a development strategy of product diversification and high-quality products, forming a construction trend focused on bulk carriers, container ships, floating docks, and other vessels.
