On April 26, a 1700TEU container ship (Project 712) from the Putuo branch (formerly Ouhua) sailed into the vast sea. A ship that had been idle for several years began its exciting trial voyage thanks to the relentless efforts of Changhong workers.
The total length of this series of ships is 169.99 meters, with a width of 28 meters and a depth of 14.2 meters, classified by DVNGL.
As early as the end of September last year, it was towed to the Changhong headquarters for continued construction. As the first ship from the Putuo branch, it received great attention from the project team due to its internal condition. Just checking for missing parts took several months, and issues such as aging and damage to internal equipment were discovered almost daily. Once identified, they were immediately reported, and the allocation and procurement took a long time. To avoid rework and improve efficiency, the assembly department maintained constant communication with service providers and ship inspections, dispatching elite personnel on-site to find ways to push the project forward. At the beginning of 2020, the project faced even more difficulties due to the pandemic. After the factory resumed operations on March 5, a trial voyage plan was set for the end of April. In the face of a shortage of labor and service providers, efforts were made to coordinate with production workshops and labor teams to increase manpower, while reasonably assigning work based on production priorities. The few staff members in the department worked overtime at night and reported inspections during the day, continuing for about 20 days to catch up on the delayed schedule.
Affected by the pandemic, the global shipping industry is in dire straits. However, difficulties often come with new opportunities. Changhong shipbuilders withstand the pressure, and through hard work and relentless pursuit, they will surely deliver the ships under construction smoothly, facing the challenging environment with unwavering determination.
