On August 8 at 10:58 AM, amidst the festive sounds of firecrackers and fireworks, Changhong International held the keel-laying ceremony for the 3rd and 4th 11,500 TEU LNG dual-fuel container ships (CHB2029/CHB2030) built for the world-renowned shipping company Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) at Dock 1. Representatives from MSC, DNV GL, and some leaders and employees from Changhong International attended the ceremony.

The completion of the keel laying marks the official entry of the two ships into a new construction phase. The project team will continue to optimize and upgrade the construction plan and construction techniques based on a comprehensive summary of the construction experience of the first two ships, focusing on breakthroughs in key nodes and construction technology, and will make every effort to advance the project schedule, ensuring the quality and quantity of the ship delivery.
This series of container ships is a new generation of 10,000 TEU dual-fuel container ships independently developed and designed by CIMC ORIC, with complete intellectual property rights. It adopts a dual propulsion system of LNG and traditional fuel oil, the industry's most advanced ammonia fuel 'ready' design, and installs energy-saving devices such as air ducts; it features a twin-island layout and is equipped with the largest C-type LNG fuel tank in its class. The range in both LNG and fuel oil modes can meet the round-trip requirements of classic Central Europe or Central America routes, ensuring operational flexibility for the shipowner.

The 11,500 TEU project consists of a total of 10 ships, including 4 classed by DNV GL, 3 classed by LR, and 3 classed by BV. As of now, 6 ships have been launched, with a total length of 335 meters, a beam of 45.6 meters, a depth of 25 meters, and a design speed of 20 knots.
In addition, based on the friendly cooperation and mutual trust between both parties, Changhong International and MSC have signed an order for 12 units of 19,000 TEU LNG dual-fuel container ships. This marks another collaboration following the previous projects of 10 units of 11,500 TEU and 10 units of 10,300 TEU LNG dual-fuel large container ships, indicating that Changhong International has officially entered the construction queue for ultra-large dual-fuel container ships of 20,000 TEU, showcasing its strong capability in continuously innovating and enriching the 'green ship type' of container ships.
