At 8:58 AM on July 8, the third 50,000-ton MR-type product oil tanker CHB5003 of Changhong International was ignited and started work in the section processing workshop, with the shipowner being Marshall Pro Tanker Investment Company.
Mr. Shen Bosong, the project manager of the SMC project, pressed the ignition button for the CNC cutting, officially starting the project.
MR tankers are one of the main types of liquid cargo ships, with a broad application market prospect. The 50,000-ton series oil and chemical tankers designed and built by Changhong International have a total length of approximately 182.95 meters, a width of 32.2 meters, a depth of 19.10 meters, and are classified by LR. They use a stern engine type, single fixed pitch propeller diesel drive, meeting the requirements for navigation in unlimited sea areas, with a designed speed of 14.5 knots.
This ship is scheduled for delivery at the end of October 2025. Given the challenges of building tankers and the high requirements for special coatings, our shipbuilding team has optimized plans multiple times since the project started, adjusted production capacity, reasonably allocated production resources, invested quality technical strength, and closely coordinated with the shipowner's representatives, on-site supervision team, and classification society, laying a solid foundation for the successful delivery of the project.
