The first two 11,500 TEU dual-fuel container ships have successfully been launched on the slipway.

On the afternoon of May 16, amidst the festive sounds of firecrackers and fireworks, Changhong International held the keel-laying ceremony for the first two 11,500 TEU LNG dual-fuel container ships (hull numbers CHB2027/CHB2028) built for the world-renowned shipping company Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) at Dock No. 2. This marks the official start of a new construction phase for these two ships and signifies the continued smooth progress of the project. Representatives from MSC, DNV GL, and some mid-to-senior level staff and employees from Changhong International attended and witnessed the ceremony.
This series of container ships is a new generation of 10,000 TEU dual-fuel container ships independently designed and developed by CIMC ORIC, with complete intellectual property rights. They adopt a dual propulsion system using LNG and traditional fuel oil, the industry's most advanced ammonia fuel 'ready' design, and energy-saving devices such as installed air ducts. The Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) is approximately 40% lower than the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) stringent third-phase emission baseline. The ships feature a twin-island layout and are equipped with the largest C-type LNG fuel tanks in their class, with both LNG and fuel oil modes capable of meeting the round-trip requirements for classic Central Europe or Central America routes, ensuring operational flexibility for the shipowner.
The 11,500 TEU series consists of a total of 10 ships, including 4 classed by DNV GL, 3 classed by LR, and 3 classed by BV. As of now, 6 ships of this series have commenced construction, with a total length of 335 meters, a beam of 45.6 meters, a depth of 25 meters, and a design speed of 20 knots.
