On May 15 at 9:28 AM, with the shipowner's representative pressing the cutter button, amidst the festive sounds of firecrackers and fireworks, the 5th and 6th 11,500 TEU LNG dual-fuel container ships built by Changhong International for the world-renowned shipping company Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) successfully ignited and commenced construction in the A5 cutting workshop. Representatives from MSC, LR classification society, and some mid-level and staff from Changhong International attended and witnessed the ceremony.

This series of container ships is a new generation of 10,000 TEU dual-fuel container ships independently developed and designed by the CIMC Design Institute ORIC, with complete intellectual property rights. The ship type adopts a twin-island layout and is equipped with the largest C-type LNG fuel tank in its class. The range in LNG mode and fuel mode can meet the round-trip needs of classic Central Europe or Central America routes, ensuring the flexibility of the shipowner's operational plans.

This type of ship features characteristics such as cleanliness, environmental protection, and low carbon emissions, saving about 5% more fuel compared to existing similar ships. The Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) is approximately 40% lower than the International Maritime Organization (IMO) stringent third-phase emission baseline; the design has very good technological foresight, not only adopting LNG and traditional fuel dual-power propulsion but also incorporating the industry's most advanced ammonia fuel 'Ready' design.
The 11,500 TEU ship has a total length of 335 meters, a width of 45.6 meters, a depth of 25 meters, and a designed speed of 20 knots. The two ships that commenced construction today are classified by LR classification society. Currently, the company holds 20 orders from Mediterranean Shipping Company, including 10 units of 11,500 TEU and 10 units of 10,300 TEU, all of which are LNG dual-fuel container ships.
