On the afternoon of August 24, the third 5300TEU container ship CHB2023 built by Zhoushan Changhong International for Greek shipowner NAVIOS MARITIME PARTNERS L. P. was successfully launched.

After the launch, the ship will dock at Pier 1 for terminal outfitting work. Mr. Christoforos Konstantinidis, the manager of the shipowner's on-site office, along with the supervising representative Mr. Guan Shengyu from DNV GL, and the company's general manager of shipbuilding Mr. Shen Zhihua, attended the ceremony.

The ship has a total length of approximately 237.8 meters, a beam of 38.8 meters, and a depth of 21.8 meters, and is classified by DNV GL. The design concept of the ship overturns the traditional long and narrow design of container ships, optimizing the lines with a wide-body concept. The main dimensions are much smaller than current ships with the same container capacity, while the stability is significantly better than traditional container ships, requiring much less ballast water than similar ships on the market.

Currently, all 10 ships in this project have started construction, with processes covering everything from the pre-treatment line to the terminal. The first ship will undergo sea trials next month.
