On November 14, the basketball tournament for enterprise employees organized by the Dinghai District Federation of Trade Unions was held at the Dinghai No. 2 Middle School gymnasium in Zhoushan City. Eight teams participated, including the trade union of Zhoushan Changhong International Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., the trade union of Zhejiang Zengzhou Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., and the trade union of Pacific Ocean Engineering (Zhoushan) Co., Ltd.
As early as September, in the basketball tournament of Xiaosha Street, our team won first place with an overwhelming advantage, successfully entering the Dinghai District competition. The players were all eager to showcase their skills on the court. On the evening of the 14th, in the initial group match, our team led by more than ten points to defeat Zhenghe Shipbuilding, easily winning the first game. However, in the next day's match, we underperformed in the third and fourth quarters, trailing behind the weakest team, Wujiao. The players had not yet recovered from the shadow of defeat when they faced the strongest team, the PetroChina team, which was exceptionally challenging. PetroChina is a strong team, well-trained and experienced in competitions. After the match began, the PetroChina team frequently attacked the basket due to their height advantage, while our team utilized precise outside shooting to keep the score close, showing no weakness. Team leader Bao Jie said, 'Although they are stronger than us, and although we did not perform well on the court, we still have to fight hard and show our manly spirit.' However, as the game progressed, fatigue led to a decrease in our shooting percentage, and PetroChina's advantage in the paint became evident. Our team narrowly lost by 3 points, missing out on the top four.
In the end, our team achieved a total record of three wins and two losses, securing fifth place. Although we did not reach our expected results, the hard work and passion of our players on the court left a lasting impression on everyone.
The person in charge of the Dinghai District Federation of Trade Unions stated that the purpose of holding this basketball tournament is to enrich the cultural life of employees between enterprises, promote communication and understanding among enterprises, and improve the physical fitness of a wide range of employees. The trade union hopes that through the competition, friendly relations between enterprises can be enhanced, the cohesion of the entrepreneurial team can be strengthened, and the style of enterprises in Dinghai District can be fully showcased.
