Maersk Drilling will dismantle a drilling platform at Changhong International.

Maersk Drilling has decided to retire the self-elevating drilling platform "Maersk Endurer" and send it to Zhoushan Changhong International Shipyard for dismantling and recycling. Maersk Drilling's global sales headMorten Pilnovstated: "Given the current oversupply in the global drilling platform market, the company strongly wishes to scrap older drilling platforms in the fleet. Therefore, Maersk Drilling has decided to scrap the oldest drilling platform in the fleet."
It is understood that the drilling platform was transported to Zhoushan Changhong International Shipyard for dismantling in mid-July of2015and is expected to arrive at Changhong International in8month, with the dismantling and recycling process taking approximately15weeks.
Zhoushan Changhong International was chosen because it is currently the most advanced shipyard for dismantling and recycling drilling platforms, complying with the Hong Kong International Convention and EU regulations on safe and environmentally friendly ship recycling."Maersk Endurer" is the oldest self-elevating drilling platform in the Maersk Drilling fleet, built in1984and has been operating in the waters off Cameroon.
