Changhong International Industrial Park is a company capable of large-scale dismantling of drilling platform vessels. Over the years, it has further integrated industrial chain resources, forming a modern ship port series industrial pattern, with more obvious advantages in scale operation, gradually enhancing competitive ability, which is conducive to the healthy development of the ship dismantling industry. Since June, our company has imported 6 scrap steel ships, weighing 89,000 tons, with a cargo value of 17.9 million US dollars, all three indicators have reached a historical high. These 6 imported scrap steel ships are all drilling operation vessels, all scrapped by Transocean, the world's largest drilling ship owner based in Switzerland.
It is reported that since the oil price plummeted in 2014, oil companies have significantly reduced exploration and development budgets, indirectly leading to a decrease in the chartering activities of floating drilling platforms, resulting in a decline in fleet utilization and daily charter rates, with drilling ship owners earning very little, and a large number of drilling platform vessels accumulated worldwide. Affected by this, many drilling ship owners have chosen to scrap and dismantle old drilling platforms, objectively promoting a surge in the dismantling of scrap steel ships.
